Mozelle Gunn
Mozelle Gunn, age 91, of Atlanta, Texas, died Thursday,
December 1, 2011 in a local adult care facility.
Mozelle was born June 24, 1920 in Miller County,
Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of First
Baptist Church, Queen City, Texas. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Jack Gunn and a grandson, Drew
Cherry.
She is survived by two daughters, Sidney Parkman and
husband Paul of Queen City, Texas, and Terry Cherry of
Atlanta, Texas; four grandchildren, Kerri Heldt,
Jennifer Young, Allen Parkman, and Robin Cherry; eleven
great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren;
and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 4,
2011 at the First Baptist Church, Queen City, Texas with
Bro. Mike Lovely and Bro. Scott Wall officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 6 pm
to 8 pm at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Bloomburg, Texas,
under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Fay Marsh
Fay Marsh, age 62 of
Atlanta, Texas, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday,
November 19, 2011 in a Texarkana, Texas hospital.
Fay was born June
10, 1949 in Henderson, Nevada. She was a homemaker and
attended First Baptist Church, Atlanta, Texas and was a
member of Douglassville Baptist Church. She was
preceded in death by her father, Marvin Bennett.
Fay is survived by
her husband, Gerald Marsh of Atlanta, Texas; her mother,
Irene Bennett of Atlanta, Texas; two sons, John Marsh
and wife Trevelyn of Tolar, Texas, and Wayne Marsh and
wife Becky of Bedford, Texas; a granddaughter, Harmony
Marsh; and a grandson, Kadence Marsh both of Mount
Pleasant, Texas; a special friend, Linda Forbes of Mount
Pleasant, Texas; and a number of other relatives and
friends.
Funeral services
will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the
Hanner Funeral Chapel, Atlanta, Texas with Bro. Gary
Landers officiating. Visitation will be held November
21, 2011 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Douglassville Cemetery,

Burton P. Cook, age 74, of Texarkana, Texas formerly of
Atlanta, Texas, died Monday, November 7, 2011 in a
Texarkana hospital.
Burton was born October 11, 1937 in Yoakum, Texas. He
was retired from Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company; was a
member of Eylau United Methodist Church; and a past
member of the Atlanta Lion’s Club and the Chamber of
Commerce. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Douglas and Ollie Cook.
He is survived by his wife, Rena Jo Cook of Texarkana,
Texas; three children, Pat Cook and wife Sharon of
Atlanta, Texas, Celeste Dellinger and husband Jack of
Atlanta, Texas, Chris Glover and husband Mike of
Flagstaff, Arizona; three step-children, Jim McCasland
and wife Marsha Kay of Atlanta, Texas, Steve McCasland
and wife Patti of Houston, Texas, Kevin McCasland and
wife Jana of Atlanta, Texas; one brother, Douglas Cook
and wife Marjorie of Yoakum, Texas; one sister,
Marionette Kneifel and husband Vic of Shiner, Texas;
thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a
number of other relatives.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from
10:30 am to 11:00 am at Eylau United Methodist Church,
Texarkana, Texas before the service.

Sara Alice Dell, age 91, of Atlanta, Texas, died Friday,
November 4, 2011 in a local nursing home.
Sara was born November 25, 1919 in Atlanta, Texas. She
was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church,
Atlanta, Texas. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Charles W. Dell; a daughter, Beverly Dell
Stuckey; her parents, Chester and Mary Anne Glass; a
brother, Millard Glass; and a sister, Freda Glass Cross.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Dell of Austin,
Texas; one grandson, Ron Stuckey of Austin, Texas; a
sister, Marguerite Ratcliff of Flower Mound, Texas; a
brother and sister-in-law, Ben M. and Liz Glass of
Lewisville, Texas; a son-in-law and his wife, Roland and
Mary Stuckey of Atlanta, Texas; and a number of other
relatives and friends.

Miracle Deanne “Mic Mic” Chamblee, age 15, of Queen
City, Texas, died Friday, November 4, 2011 at a local
hospital.
Miracle was born April 5, 1996 in Atlanta, Texas. She
was a student at Queen City High School, she was a
member of the A-B Honor Roll; and loved Art. She was
also a member of College Hill Pentecostal Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
She is survived by her parents, Mack Chamblee of Queen
City, Texas; mother, Lois Susie Chamblee of Queen City,
Texas; three sisters, Robin Bridwell and husband Robby
of Cleveland, Texas, Elizabeth Fomby and husband Troy of
Atlanta, Texas, and Holli Chamblee of Atlanta, Texas;
nieces and nephew, Brianna Bridwell, J. R. Bridwell,
Ashley Bridwell, Victoria Fomby, Keri Fomby; four
special friends, Stevie Ezell, Shannon Moore, Kaylee
Algor, and Josh Gilliam; and a number of other
relatives.

LINDEN, TX – Thomas
Francis Lanier, Sr. 88 or Linden, passed away Monday,
September 12, 2011 at his home in Linden. Mr. Lanier was
born November 13, 1922 in Linden to William Ruben and
Bertha Nancy Frost Lanier. He married Cissi Hargrove on
October 25, 1951. He was a graduate of Marshall High
School, Class of 1939.
Mr Lanier served in WWII as a 1st Sergeant in the Army
where he acted as forward observer for 105MM Howitzers
during field operations. He was awarded a Purple Heart
and Combat Infantry Badge for action against the enemy
during a liaison mission and European-African-Middle
Eastern Theater Ribbon with three campaign stars and the
Bronze Star.
He owned and operated Lanier Chevrolet in Linden for 42
years. He served on the Chevrolet Dealer Planning
Committee and was are director of the Texas Automobile
Association.
Mr. Lanier attended A&M College of Texas, now Texas A&M,
and was an avid Texas A&M fan, holding membership in the
Texas A&M 12th Man Foundation, Texas A&M Former Student
Association, Cypress Valley A&M Club and Texas Aggie
Corp of Cadets Association. He was a chartger member of
the Aggie Club and the Century Club.
He held memberships in the following organizations,
American Legion, VFW, Linden Lions Club, charter member
of the Linden Municipal Hospital Authority serving as
president for 30 years, chairman of the Linden Housing
Authority, L- K School Board, Linden Round-up Club,
Linden Volunteer Ambulance Service, was founder of the
Linden Summer Baseball program and Club Lake
Association. He was Linden Chamber of Commerce Man of
the Year in 1992.
Mr Lanier was also active in the Linden Chamber of
Commerce, Linden United Fund, L – K Quarterback Club,
Linden Small Business Association, Texas Advisory
Council of Small Businesses, Sul Ross Reunion Group ,
Crop of 22, and was an Admiral in the Texas Navy.
He was a member of Linden First United Methodist Church
where he served on various committees.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Cissi Lanier of
Linden; two sons and daughtrers-in-law, Frank and Judy
Lanier and Glen and Melissa Lanier all of Linden; three
daughters and sons-in-law, Lesa and Jeff Lovett of
Nacogdoches, Denise and Mike Mahan of Linden, and Dana
and Gary Boland of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; five
grandchildren, LaShay Mahan Ebarb, Michael Mahan, Lauren
Lesa Lanier, Tommy Lanier and Bradley Lanier; eight
great grandchildren, Zak Mahan, Max Ebarb, Zoe Ebarb,
Dex Ebarb, Mia Mahan, Maci Mahan, Mickey Mahan, and
Thomas Francis Lanier IV; plus many other family and
friends.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday,
September 14, 2011 at Linden First United Methodist
Church with Rev. Kevin Young officiating. A private
interment will be in Linden Cemetery under the direction
of Reeder-Davis-Schlindler Funeral Home in Linden. The
family received friends from 6 to 7 PM Tuesday at the
funeral home.
Billy Purkey, age
57, of Queen City, Texas, died Saturday, July 30, 2011
at his residence.
Billy was born July 14, 1954 in Maryville, Tennessee. He
enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and
friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda
Purkey and his parents, Clyde and Martha Love Purkey.
He is survived by his son, Scott Corbett and wife Anna
of Bend, Oregon; two daughters, Jessica Griffin and
husband Neil of Queen City, Texas, and Tiffany Watkins
and husband Demarcus of Vancouver, Washington; two
brothers, Archie Purkey of Florida, and Charles Purkey
of Maryville, Tennessee; three sister, Betty Roberts of
Maryville, Tennessee, Juanita Gribble of Rockford,
Tennessee, and Linda Stevens of Maryville, Tennessee;
mother-in-law, Bonnie Stout of Doddridge, Arkansas; and
six grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

2011 at Macedonia Cemetery, Doddridge, Arkansas, under

Fran Peavy age 57,
of Queen City, Texas, died Friday, July 22, 2011 at her
residence.
Fran was born January 19, 1954, in Fort Knox, Kentucky.
She was a homemaker and a member of Piney Grove Baptist
Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Alva
Haynes; one son, Elvis Holley, three sisters, Greta
Goodwin, Patricia Zachary, and Rebecca Haynes.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Peavy of Queen
City, Texas; her mother, Juanita Haynes of Adamsville,
Tennessee; two sons, Derral Holley of Atlanta, Texas,
Billy Paul Peavy of Queen City, Texas; three daughters,
Michelle Sims of Corsicana, Texas, Cindy Dastillon of
Texarkana, Texas, and Jada Merritt of Texarkana, Texas;

Merle Reece, age 69,
of Atlanta, Texas, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at his
residence.
Merle was born September 10, 1941 in Poteau, Oklahoma.
He was retired from Exxon Mobil; a member of Bethsaida
“Y” Baptist Church; and loved hunting and fishing. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Olen and Viola
Perkins Reece; two brothers, Henry Reece and Owen Reece;
and three sisters, Beatrice Bobo, Pat Blocker and
Patricia Weaton.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Endsley Reece of

Jimmy Clark, age 63,
of Rodessa, Louisiana, died Thursday, July 14, 2011 in
Shreveport, Louisiana.
Jimmy was born April 5, 1948 in Dallas, Texas. He was
retired from Nalco Chemical, was a member of New Hope
Baptist Church, Bloomburg, Texas; La Place Louisiana
VFW; Ark La TX Corvette Club; and served in the United
States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict. He was
preceded in death by his parents, James and Pearl
Roberts Clark.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Clark of Rodessa,
Louisiana; two sons, Jeff Clark of Rodessa, Louisiana,
and Jason Clark of Vivian, Louisiana; a daughter, Laura
Clark of Rodessa, Louisiana; one brother, Jimmy Lee
Clark of Grand Prairie, Texas; one sister, Darlene East
